About the Role:
Glean is looking for a Head of Field Marketing, Japan, based out of Tokyo, who will partner closely with our sales & marketing teams to support our regional marketing strategy in Japan. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving brand awareness, engagement, and sales through marketing initiatives. This role involves planning, executing, and managing regional/field marketing campaigns, events, webinars, roundtables and other activities that align with Glean’s overall marketing strategy. The Head of Field Marketing, Japan will work closely with the sales team, regional managers, and the extended marketing teams (design, web, social, digital, partner) to ensure successful implementation of marketing programs. Based in Tokyo, this position will report to the Head of Field Marketing - APJ. The role must support all GTM activities which includes all products/solutions sold in Japan.
You will:
- Build the Japan go-to-market plan and quarterly marketing calendar aligned to revenue targets, ICP, and priority verticals; define clear goals for awareness, pipeline, and revenue influence.
- Own integrated demand generation: digital acquisition, ABM programs, paid and organic channels, webinars, roundtables, content syndication, and lead nurture - localised for Japan.
- Lead field and event marketing: anchor third-party conferences (e.g., AWS Summits, Google Cloud events, Gartner), executive experiences, and Glean-hosted programs that convert to meetings and opportunities.
- Drive partner marketing: co-market with hyperscalers (AWS/Bedrock, Google Cloud), SIs/GSIs, and strategic resellers; develop joint value propositions, campaigns, and MDF plans.
- Localize and continuously improve glean.com/jp and priority assets (solution pages, case studies, one-pagers, ads, landing pages, email flows)—maintaining brand voice and technical accuracy.
- Establish account-based motions for top strategic accounts: 1:1 and 1:few programs, executive engagement, personalised content and experiences, and opportunity acceleration plays.
- Launch Japan PR/communications in partnership with Global Comms: local narratives, media relationships, and customer storytelling to build category leadership.
- Build customer marketing in Japan: reference pipeline, stories, and advocacy moments that support sales cycles and community growth.
- Stand up modern marketing operations and reporting: forecasting, lead flow and SLAs, attribution, ROI dashboards, and weekly pipeline inspection with Sales.
- Select and manage best-in-class agencies for localization, digital, PR, and events; hire and develop a small, high-performing local team over time.
- Champion responsible, secure AI adoption narratives tailored to Japan’s enterprise buyers; showcase concrete value with industry-specific examples.
- What will be your success metrics:
- Sourced and influenced pipeline vs. plan; net new opportunities and SQLs from marketing
- ABM engagement lift in target accounts; opportunity acceleration and win-rate impact
- Event ROI: meetings booked, opportunities created, and pipeline per program
- Digital performance: CPL/CAC, conversion rates (visit → MQL → SQL → Opp), and velocity
- Brand momentum: PR coverage/quality, web growth, and share of voice in priority topics
About you:
- 10+ years of B2B marketing experience in Japan; 4+ years leading high-impact teams/programs at enterprise SaaS or platform companies selling to large organisations.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; MBA a plus
- Work authorization in Japan
- Willingness to travel domestically for events and customer meetings (≈25%)
- Proven track record owning a regional number and delivering pipeline/revenue impact across integrated demand, field/events, ABM, and partner marketing.
- Deep experience localising global narratives for Japanese buyers; you can turn complex AI/platform concepts into plain-spoken business value for executives and technical evaluators.
- Native-level Japanese and strong business English; confident presenter and writer in both.
- Hands-on leader with startup hustle—able to plan, execute, and iterate quickly; comfortable with ambiguity and building from 0→1.
- Data-driven operator with strong marketing ops acumen; fluent with Salesforce, Marketo, and common ABM/digital tools (e.g., 6sense/Demandbase, LinkedIn/Google, webinar and event platforms).
- Highly collaborative across Sales, Partners, Product Marketing, and Comms; known for clear decision-making, crisp communication, and high ownership.
