Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Associate Professor in Accounting to join the founding academic team at the University of Liverpool’s India Campus. In this exciting role, you will not only contribute to world class teaching and academic delivery but also play a vital part in shaping a cutting edge, learner centric environment that mirrors the academic excellence of the Liverpool campus.
As an Associate Professor, you will be expected to bring academic rigor, a student first mindset, and a bold, future ready approach to teaching and learning excellence at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate teaching excellence in the public or private sector and will have a recognised professional accounting qualification.

Key responsibilities and duties:
This senior role offers the opportunity to lead curriculum development, , and mentor junior faculty, in the field of Accounting and Finance in undergraduate and potentially postgraduate programmes while shaping the University's global academic reputation. Professional experience and qualifications will be essential to the support and teaching of programmes with the potential to carry professional exemptions from ICAEW an ACCA.
Leadership
Provide leadership in teaching and scholarship, fostering an environment of scholarly excellence. Represent the University at national and international forums, build strategic partnerships with industry, academia, and government, and participate in management school accreditation exercises including EQUIS and AACSB as well as professional programme accreditations.
Teaching & Curriculum Development
Design and deliver advanced undergraduate and potentially postgraduate programmes in Accounting and Finance. Play a pivotal role in programme accreditation, curriculum enhancement and innovative teaching strategies that improve student experience and employability.
Key responsibilities:
Leadership, Culture, and Engagement
· Provide professional leadership and operational capacity in programme design, teaching and scholarship in programmes in Accounting and Finance at undergraduate and potentially postgraduate level within the department fostering an environment of scholarly excellence.
· Represent the university at national and international academic and professional forums, enhancing its visibility and reputation.
· Represent the management department in accreditation processes.
· Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with industry and various stakeholders and government agencies to support teaching and scholarship initiatives and enrich the learning environment.
· Contribute substantively to departmental governance, administration, and operational delivery in close collaboration with senior leadership.
· Develop, coordinate, and deliver advanced undergraduate and potentially postgraduate courses in the area of relevant expertise.
· Mentor junior and early career faculty members, actively participating in their professional development and performance evaluation processes.
· Work collaboratively with Professional Services partners to deliver delegated administrative and governance duties.
Teaching
· Play a pivotal role in curriculum development and contextualisation, programme accreditation, programme enhancement and the maintenance of quality assurance standards within the university.
· Deliver high quality teaching
· Create a nurturing environment for excellence across the whole education offer.
· Promote innovative teaching strategies that improve student experience, transferable skills creation and employability prospects.
· Be up to date with their field to be able to engage in curriculum innovation, in areas such as accounting standards (e.g., IFRS), taxation and data analytics in finance

Essential Qualifications and Attributes:
· A PhD in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
· Chartered Accountant status with membership of ACCA, CIMA, or ICAEW, supported by relevant professional practice experience.
· A good first degree from a globally recognised higher education institution.
· Significant academic experience with a strong track record in module design, delivery, and assessment, primarily in Accounting and Finance.
· Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum development, and academic mentorship across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
· Proven academic leadership in teaching, such as programme coordination, programme design, or curriculum leadership roles.
· Active engagement in pedagogical enhancement through professional development activities, academic networks, or teaching innovation initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.
· Demonstrable ability to contribute to and develop external academic, professional, and industry networks supporting teaching, scholarship, and knowledge exchange.
· Strong commitment to delivering industry-relevant education, ensuring graduates are well prepared for professional practice.
· Ability to contribute to the School’s strategic objectives, particularly in addressing global and societal challenges through teaching, curriculum design, and engagement.
· Evidence of excellent organisational, administrative, and time-management skills, with the ability to contribute effectively to academic governance and quality assurance processes.
