We are seeking a strategic and experienced Sr. Director of Revenue Accounting to join our finance leadership team.
You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of revenue recognition and accounting globally. This role requires a deep understanding of revenue recognition principles and operational efficiency in a high growth environment. The ideal candidate is data driven, highly inquisitive and collaborative, with a proven track record in leading high performing teams through process transformation. #LI-RS1
Responsibilities
- Revenue Recognition: Lead the team that manages the entire end-to-end global revenue accounting process, ensuring accuracy, data quality and timeliness of results; oversee the maintenance of global revenue recognition policies. Identify and evaluate changes in technical revenue recognition regulations and principles. Document positions on complex issues in audit-ready whitepapers.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present accurate financial analysis related to revenue performance and trends, including KPIs, to help management make informed decisions.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a global team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative and high performance culture that encourages learning and development.
- Process Management and Transformation: Develop and scale our order-to-cash systems, processes and controls. Lead transformation initiatives; identify areas for enhancement, align cross functional stakeholders and execute to achieve desired outcomes. Provide revenue recognition guidance on business initiatives including new products, market expansion opportunities and other strategic projects. Develop and maintain playbooks for cross functional stakeholders.
- Cross Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross functional teams including sales, legal, revenue operations, deal desk, product and finance to ensure accurate revenue recognition interpretations and efficient order to cash operations. Gather insights on customer behavior, pricing strategies and market conditions to align with business strategies. Collaborate with auditors to support the audit process.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of relevant experience with a mix of Big 4 accounting experience and high-growth public companies with complex revenue streams in SaaS/software industry.
- Masterful knowledge of ASC 606 and related US GAAP pronouncements, including its application on complex revenue arrangements.
- Ability to roll up sleeves and work with global team members in a hands-on management capacity to deliver required results.
- Proven record of mentoring and developing talent.
- High emotional intelligence, ability to build and sustain relationships at multiple levels within and outside of finance. Excellent communication skills, written and oral.
- Passionate and persistent about operational excellence.
- Problem solving and decision making capacity in a high growth environment.
- Comfortable leading teams through ambiguity and be a champion of change.
- Experience with relevant systems including Netsuite, Zuora Revenue and Salesforce CPQ.
- Strong knowledge of SOX requirements, including the ability to assess, develop and implement internal controls.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Salary range and description
Min $180,000 - Max $210,000 USD per year
Pay offered will vary based on job-related factors such as location, experience, training, skills, and abilities. In addition to the base salary and annual bonus target and an equity component is included in the compensation package.
